Faith with a Face – Diane Stenus

dianeFor several years, Diane Stenus has quietly gone about her “job.” She is one of the unsung volunteers you like to
hear about…doing one of the church duties that you might not even think about until you read it here. Every two or three weeks, Diane comes and picks up the altar server robes and takes them to a laundromat. She washes and dries them to make sure that they are looking sharp at all times. How did this come about?

“I wanted to do something for our church, and I was in the office one day and heard that the person responsible was no longer able to this job. I thought to myself, I can do that!” Diane said.

The Altar Society recently replaced all of the altar server robes due to the material being worn and of a type of fabric that could not be ironed or starched to help the appearance look fresh. Because of the variety of heights of the servers, different sizes were purchased. The new garments are monastic albs with hoods. There are new colored cinctures (cords) to match the liturgical season, as the former ones were looking frayed.

Diane is soon “retiring” from this volunteer position. If you (or you and some friends) would like to take this on, it would be very much appreciated. Please contact the parish office if you are interested.

Thank you, Diane, for your dedication, and thanks to the Altar Society for the beautiful new robes!
